Today was the pour day for the front of the house, and thus far we could not be happier with the results.
We also had a last-minute scramble to find a pool tile guy to replace tiles before they pour the pool deck on Friday. It was ridiculously expensive – $700 to replace 12 tiles damaged in the destruction process and fill in some gunnite on top of the tub – but we needed to get it done and were worried about timing that might alter the schedule. The guy we found did a good job and came TODAY after I found him this morning, so I will not complain about the expense. Had our concrete contractor’s tile guy been available it would have been significantly less. But oh well. His pool tile guy will be coming out to clean the excess crap out of the pool and polish the tile after everything is done, so he still gets some work out of it.
Tomorrow they are pouring at least part of the RV pad – M is not sure how much of it; we just go with the flow and get out their way – then Friday is the pool deck. While the whole process has actually gone very smoothly, today was particularly amazing with one worker who has only one usable arm yet can work with concrete as effectively as anyone else on the crew.
I am hopeful this entire process will be done by Saturday, so we can move on to the next project, which will either be lawn or deck or both simultaneously, since they are different contractors. Summer will be fun with all our exterior landscaping done.
