Last Friday I posted my 80 days of summer to-do/goal list and committed to updating each week. While it’s only been a few days since this began, I am off to an excellent start. Hopefully this list and blog accountability will help sharpen my focus and stay on track.

  1. Complete 1,000,000 steps on activity trackers. STARTED AND ON TRACK
    From the weekend, totals between my treadmill desk steps and my Garmin viviofit2 activity tracker is 28,789. For whatever reason the Garmin does not track steps on any treadmill, arc trainer, or elliptical I have tried at home or the gym, which is why I combine the steps from my treadmill desk and the Garmin for total steps daily.
    The week ahead: I need to achieve 12,500 daily to reach goal, but I have a busy week of part-time work and should be on my treadmill desk and walking every day.
  2. Attend 25 classes yoga classes. STARTED AND ON TRACK
    So far, so good. I was at my studio on Saturday for the 8 a.m. class and then an almost 3 hour posture clinic. I am still feeling it, but I am also really glad I went to the posture clinic. The teacher was amazing, and since I am restarting my practice yet again I gained some understanding and received some one-on-one help.
    The week ahead: I have classes on my calendar for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I can do this.
  3. Use gym membership for 30 sessions of strength training. NOT STARTED YET BUT SCHEDULED
    I did not go to the gym this weekend because of other commitments.
    The week ahead: I have my first body fit class on Wednesday evening and am hoping to schedule a Friday or Saturday appointment with the trainer to set-up a beginning strength training program.
    It’s only been a few days, and between Friday and today there has been a half-pound fluctuation.
    The week ahead: Stick with the meal plan and be consistent in my exercise. Pray.
  5. Research CBT for eating habits. STARTED AND IN PROGRESS. 
    I found a couple of basic CBT books in my Kindle Unlimited catalog and am about halfway through the first.
    The week ahead: I contacted a referral to a CBT practice specialist from my existing therapist and have an appointment this afternoon.
  6. Decide upon and document funeral arrangement/wishes. NOT STARTED YET
    This one requires additional research. M and I have tentatively decided on a few things – I want to be creamated, he wants to be buried – but that’s as far as I have gotten. There are a few ideas perking, but no definitive or concrete action as yet.
    The week ahead: Research a couple of local mortuary/cemetary sites and discuss desires with M.
  7. Read two books per week. ON TRACK
    I had a good reading weekend with the basic CBT books and some light fiction. I also cleaned up my Kindle Unlimited by returning 8 books I had previously completed so I can borrow another 8 in addition to the 2 I have on CBT. I finished Finding Fraser by KC Dyer this weekend. It was cute, and Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books were like a recurring character. Despite having not read the Outlander series, I still enjoyed the light-and-fluffy Finding Fraser.
    The week ahead: Finish first CBT book, download and read one of my summer beach books.
  8. Get a tan on my legs. NOT STARTED YET
    I did spend some time swimming in the pool and reading … in the shade. M is terrified that I am going to become a lobster in 5 minutes of direct sunlight, so I am being careful and was sitting in the shade when not swimming. Besides, it was 100+ out there this weekend and the shade was bearable.
    The week ahead: After work swim season has truly begun for me. This should do something for adding color.
  9. Hike with M 6 weekend days. NOT STARTED YET
    We had other priorities this weekend, but this upcoming weekend looks promising.
    The week ahead: Check in with M about our arriving guests. Maybe Saturday? If not this will probably be tabled until July due to social commitments and houseguests.
  10. Post 12 goal progress updates. STARTED AND ON TRACK
    This is my first update and I feel as if I am off to a good start.
